15 min. consult to assess if the treatment is suitable for your skin. If you decide to go ahead with treatment, you will receive the pre-treatment cream & instructions, and make payment for your elected treatment(s).
A patch test is administered to screen for reactions.
You can also view the Consent Form here in advance, and bring with you pre-filled.
A priming cream is given for a few weeks to smooth the treatment area to ensure maximum penetration of the mask.
The mandelic peel mask is applied to the skin by one of our experienced aestheticians and you will leave with it on for 5-8 hours.
After care creams are given for the next 10-12 weeks to continue to reduce melanocyte activity and help bring them back to normal towards the end of this period.
1. PAINLESS PROCEDURE: The pre-peel mask application may involve a tingling or mild stinging sensation. The main peel mask may feel warm on the skin, and in some cases may feel hot before it is washed off.
2. PIGMENTATION REDUCTION: Results vary from person to person and cannot be guaranteed. Results for each person may also be non-linear, so you may see varying % reductions per treatment done. For resistant pigmentation, results are mainly seen after 2-3 treatments. Approx. 5% of clients may not see any results at all.
Hyperpigmentation caused by UV damage, Acne or Eczema is the most responsive to our treatment. Hyperpigmentation caused by Laser burns or TCA/Glycolic/Hydroquinone treatments are more likely to get lower reductions per treatment and are likely to require more treatments.
3. LONG TERM EFFECT: Removal of existing pigmentation can be long term (provided you continue to use adequate daily moisturiser and SPF 50 sunblock). The treatment cannot prevent pigmentation from new sources of skin damage in the future, or from a recurrence of pre-existing conditions. May require a maintenance program.
4. NO DOWNTIME: After the first day (where you will need to remain indoors with the peel mask on), clients are likely to experience gentle peeling for the next 2-5 days. This may require attention but does not interfere with normal jobs and routines for the vast majority. In very few cases, peeling may be quite heavy so you may need to plan your treatment accordingly if facial appearance is very important for your role or for an event.
5. LIMITED RISK OF SIDE-EFFECTS: dependant on strict compliance with recommended protocols & guidelines provided by the clinic. Temporary mild redness, irritation, inflammation, or spots are rare but possible after the treatment and/or the after-creams application, which usually subsides quickly in a few days with the anti-inflammatory cream provided. In less than 1/500 cases, unknown allergic reactions have been reported, and in less than 1/1000 cases, pigmentation can become darker than it started for more than 10-12 weeks.
